Is Glen Winter directing the DC’s Legends of Tomorrow pilot? [UPDATE: Yes]

UPDATE: DC Legends TV has confirmed that Winter is in fact directing the pilot for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and they have also revealed that Dermott Downs who has directed several episodes of Arrow and The Flash, will be directing the second episode.

Original report:

This weekend at Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia, several actors from Arrow and The Flash were present with Stephen Amell, Katie Cassidy, Candice Patton, Robbie Amell, Matt Nable, John Barrowman, Danielle Panabaker and John Wesley Shipp from having panels, photo ops and much more. However, during the Arrow panel that featured Amell, Cassidy, Nable and Barrowman, the Green Arrow and Black Canary may have dropped a very interesting piece of scoop for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow which is getting ready to start production this upcoming week.

In the panel video, which you catch below, at the 9:55 mark where they are talking about shooting the Superhero Fight Club promo from earlier this year, is the part where us DC’s Legends of Tomorrow fans caught something quite interesting:

Amell: The credit for that goes to Glen Winter who was the DP (director of photography) on our pilot and has directed several Arrow episodes, The Flash episodes and just did the pilot for Supergirl

Cassidy: And he is doing Legends.

Amell: And he is doing Legends!

From what we know so far, there hadn’t been any previous announcements of Winter doing the pilot for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow so this is the first time that the topic of who would direct the pilot, has ever come up. Now of course there is the chance that they were just referring to Winter maybe directing AN episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. They could also have maybe referred to him just doing DP related work for the pilot of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow or the show in general.

But based on the context of that conversation and the fact that it came up after they mentioned the Supergirl pilot, it makes more sense that he is directing the pilot for this show. That would be absolutely fantastic as Winter is a phenomenal director with not just great episodes of Arrow and The Flash, but also CW’s first superhero show Smallville. Hopefully a confirmation will come in the next few days when they start pilot production on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is slated to premiere in early mid-season of 2016 on The CW.
