Legends of Tomorrow fans have been hearing just whispers surrounding the big bad of the season, who is known only as “Mallus.” Well, Entertainment Weekly has reported that Mallus has a voice. According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, we’ll be hearing more about Mallus in tonight’s episode “Return of the Mack.” “That’s the big mythology of the season and what makes Mallus cool at this stage of everyone’s viewing experience is that right now he is just a name and is this whisper,” Guggenheim said.
John Noble, who in addition to Fringe had roles on Sleepy Hollow and Elementary, will be providing Mallus’ voice, but won’t necessarily be the face behind the mask. As The Flash has previously done with villains such as Savitar and Zoom, a different actor may be voicing the character than the actor who ends up portraying him. Zoom, the big bad of Season 2, was voiced by Tony Todd, but played by Teddy Sears. Season 3’s main villain Savitar was voiced by Tobin Bell and played by (gasp!) Grant Gustin as a future Barry Allen.
What we know about Mallus so far isn’t very much. We know a follower of his resurrected Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor), and will soon be responsible for bringing back Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) after his death in Arrow Season 4. This would indicate Mallus has some serious power and does it mean that other villains could potentially be resurrected? To this possibility, Guggenheim said “Theoretically, but I don’t think we have plans to resurrect anyone else at the moment.”
Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3 airs Tuesday nights at 9/8c on The CW!
